Great Movie Suggestions for Hotels

The tourism industry and the hospitality industry are linked in more ways than one. They co-exist within an understanding that includes all the features that vacationers desire within a package. Hotels around the world, big or small, are designed to offer the lone traveler and family all the amenities that fit into the tariff plan. The travel agents around the world cater to the needs of the tourist and support the hospitality industry, according to the travel plan. The in house amenities and freebies that hotels (hotelangebote) offer tourists include free access to certain - otherwise paid for areas, free movies and internet connectivity in the rooms, 24×7 room service and concierge service, relaxed check in and checkout timings etc.

The feature that attracts tourists the most, especially teenagers and children, is the in-house movie list highlighted by the travel agent. The movie list of any hotel should be planned in sync with the kind of clientele they usually cater to. While the screening of romantic films is fine for a typical honey-moon hotel, children’s films and family dramas are fine for screening at hotels that cater to the family category of tourists. The list of films is usually planned by the sales and marketing department of the hotel and the management represented. Since most hotels have clientele from the family and lone/couple category in house, the movies would have to be more of the U/A certification. Unless of course, reputation means nothing! Disoriented parents are the last thing the front office or house-keeping staff would like to deal with.

Most movies are certified for appropriate viewing and so, the U, U/A films are always a safe bet – great entertainment and designed for the whole family. The word of mouth publicity about the movie lists in certain hotels and ‘indecent viewing’ of channels that most families avoid back home has led to quite a few hotels coming to the brink of shutting down, spending extensively for rejuvenated sales or catering to the crowd who don’t care. It is a known fact that the businessman, family-man and student usually look into these little things like the movie play-list for the week/fortnight/month and then take an informed decision on the reservation. On the other hand, there are people who do not consider the movie lists on the web site or on the travel agent’s chart and regret a stay when it is too late, or costs too much to shift hotels. Little things like this mean a lot to someone who puts together a holiday after saving for a year or two, after working very hard for it.

Suggested viewing of movies in hotels includes comedies, family dramas, science fiction, animated films, U or U/A certified thrillers and real life stories filmed. The hospitality industry earns maximum revenue from the ‘family’ category of tourists. It is far better for hotels of all ratings to screen films that the family can view together and spend quality time enjoying the film, than screen movies that force the kids (urlaub zu zweit) to bed early or put another activity for them on the itinerary. A way of satisfying both, the adults and the kids in house, is by screening the adult rated movies late at night and informing the guests about the play-list plan.
